Two of our projects were accepted for presentation at the Goldschmidt 2013 conference held in Florence, Italy (August 25-31st). MSc graduate Qingqian Ning presented “A Modeling Framework to Predict Changes in Soil Chemistry and Agricultural Return Flow in Seawater Farming of Halophytes”, and Research Engineer Wan Abdul Matiin delivered “Role of exopolymeric substances in Ca-Mg biomineralization by coastal sabkha sulfate-reducing bacteria: an ex situ study of microbial community-mineral interactions using solid-support imaging”. These projects supervised by Dr. Farrukh Ahmad were among a wide range of investigations featured at the international conference focusing on the geosciences, namely biogeochemistry, hydrogeology, contaminant transport phenomena and soil management. The highlights of their work are available at the following links: Ning et al., & Wan et al.
